1 October 2021: New Month

September came and went, a total blur. The month held both good and bad, but here are the highlights:

  • Good: lots of socialization! D&D, housewarming parties, comic conventions, the RenFaire, and a concert.

  • Bad: my mother's unexpected hospital stay

  • Good: Mom is doing much better and has been home for about a week

  • Bad: burnout?

What I've (finally) come to realize is that the reason I'm so overwhelmed is that I piled on a bunch of tasks during quarantine, when I had nothing to do and nowhere to go. I didn't have to come into the classroom, I was cut off from most of my friends, and I had creative energy to spare. Now, I'm struggling to juggle everything and need to rethink my content schedule.

With that in mind, I'm taking October for myself.

  • The next Write Reckless podcast episode will not be coming out on the 5th

  • Make Me Write! shall be left to my whims

  • No Make Me Read! this month

  • I still plan to release my newsletter Alaura's Bookish Bulletin on the 15th, so subscribe to gain access!

  • Patreon/Ko-fi content is TBD

More announcements are sure to come, but I hope that taking time to enjoy this spooky month will revitalize me in time for NaNoWriMo. Who knows?
